If you, or someone you know needs health coverage, there are options. The time of year, household size, income, age, and health status help determine which programs you are eligible for and when you can enroll. These programs include:
- MaineCare - Maine's Medicaid program for qualifying individuals and families.
- Maine's Health Insurance Marketplace - also known as CoverME, ACA coverage, or Obamacare, is where individuals and families who do not qualify for MaineCare or do not have affordable coverage through an employer, can shop for plans and get credits to help pay their premiums.
- Hospital Free Care and Sliding Scale - programs offered by hospitals for patients with medical bills that meet certain income guidelines.
- Medicare - the federal health insurance program available to many U.S. citizens who are 65 and older or disabled.
