(Augusta) Consumers for Affordable Health Care
(CAHC) joined 12 other local leaders who sent a letter to Maine's Congressional

make health coverage more affordable for low- and
moderate-income Americans. Maine signers
include: Joseph P. Ditre, Executive Director, Consumers
for Affordable Health Care Coalition, Christopher St.
John, Executive Director, Maine Center for Economic
Policy, Ruth E Blauer, Executive Director, The Maine
Association of Substance Abuse Programs, Sarah
Standiford, Executive Director, Maine Women's Lobby,
Hon. Gary T. McGrane, County Commissioner, Franklin
County Commissioners, Randall F Roberts, Retired
President, Chase Home Furnishings Inc., Phil Bailey,
Maine Change That Works, Jill Saxby, Executive
Director, Maine Council of Churches, Sara Gagne-Holmes,

The above are also among the more than
750 clergy, small business owners, health practitioners,
health care providers, and heads of national, state and
local organizations from across the country who signed
the same letter to President Obama and Members of the
House and Senate. Together, these groups represent 100
million people throughout the United
States. The
letter is part of a broad effort to improve
affordability provisions of the legislation as lawmakers
work to craft a final bill. On Thursday, January 13th,
more than 200 national, state and local faith, labor and
nonprofit leaders convened in Washington D.C. for an
"Affordability Summit," which included meetings with
Members of Congress to deliver the message that
affordability of coverage for all families is paramount
to health reform's success.
