PROGRAM
AND POLICY ASSOCIATE
Working under the direct supervision of the Program
and Policy Manager, the Associate would help develop
and maintain the organization's various programs and
projects, including research and policy analyses;
educating and training policymakers and the public;
collaborating and communicating with coalition partners;
helping individuals find quality, affordable health
care; giving people the tools to advocate for more
affordable health care and improved public health;
and helping people know and exercise their rights.
Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree as well
as a minimum of 3 years of experience in a law-related
public policy position or as a health policy analyst.
Law Degree or Master's Degree in health policy, public
policy or public health preferred. Experience and
knowledge in consumer advocacy, community organizing
and in working with public health insurance programs
highly preferred. Candidates must possess a strong
understanding of public and private health insurance
programs and have experience working with diverse
constituencies.
This position requires the ability to research, analyze
and synthesize health care and public health data
and reports; excellent written and oral communication
skills; the ability to complete multiple written assignments
under tight time constraints; and the ability to articulate
information to other professionals and laypeople.
Candidates must be self-starters, highly motivated,
and able to work well alone and in a team setting.
Candidates must also possess excellent analytical,
strategic thinking, listening, and meeting facilitation
skills. Candidates must know their own limits and
when to ask for help. Proficiency in using computers
- including use of word processing and database programs
(MS Word 7.0, MS Access or other similar software
programs), e-mail and the Internet - is also required.
Some statewide travel is required.
