Have You Been on the
MaineCare
Waiting
List?
You May Be Able to Get Coverage
Now! |
Dear Jaime,
Good news for people who have
been on the MaineCare "non-categorical" waiting
list! For the first time in more
than a year MaineCare is enrolling
"non-categorical" adults that were placed on a
waiting list. "Non-categorical"
adults are those without minor children in the
home, who are not pregnant or disabled and are
between the ages of 21-64. All other eligible
adults would not have been placed on a waiting
list. | |
Coverage for 5,000
Mainers
About 14,000 people who were eligible for
MaineCare as "non-categoricals" have been on the
waiting list - Some for over a year. When
MaineCare opened back up to this group at the
beginning of the month, enrollment was less than
10,000 people. The MaineCare program now plans to
allow for 15,000 people in this "non-categorical"
group. That means 5,000 needy Mainers
may get much needed MaineCare
coverage. |
Keep an eye on your mail!
If you have been on this waiting
list - Keep an eye on your mail!
You will get a letter from MaineCare asking
you to verify your income and asset
information. Respond to this letter as soon
as you can, and you may be able to get MaineCare
coverage if you still meet the income and asset
guidelines. If you think you should have
received one of those letters, but have not, or if
you need more information you may call your local
Department of Health and Human Services. If
you do not know which office to call, click
here.
